American Folk-Art Heart Motif

American Folk-Art Style Heart Motif

Materials: Worsted Weight Yarn, H/8-5.00 MM Hook

Size: approx. 5 1/2 in. by 3 in. (14cm x 7.5cm)

Special stitch: Dc3tog = *yo, insert hook in next st, yo, draw up loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook*; repeat from * to * in next 2 stitches; yo, draw through all loops on hook.

Instructions:

Ch. 14.

Dc in 4^th ch from hook, dc in next 4 ch, 3 dc in next ch, dc in next 5 ch. Ch 3 and make sl st in bottom of beginning ch (the one in which you just made a dc st). Turn and ch 3.

Dc 7 in ch3 space. Dc in next 6 dc, 3 dc in next dc, dc in next 6 dc, dc 7 in ch3 space. Dc in bottom of next 4 ch, dc3tog over next 3 ch, dc in bottom of next 3 ch and sl st in top of ch3 (turning ch). Turn and ch 3.

Dc in next 2 dc, dc3tog over next 3 dc, dc in next 4 dc. 2 dc in each of next 5 dc, dc in next 8 dc, 5 dc in next dc, dc in next 8 dc, 2 dc in each of next 5 dc, dc in next dc, sl st in top of ch3 (turning ch). Finish off.

Variation (without turning):

Ch. 14.

Dc in 4^th ch from hook, dc in next 4 ch, 3 dc in next ch, dc in next 5 ch. Ch 3 and make sl st in bottom of beginning ch (the one in which you just made a dc st). Do not turn, ch 3.

Dc in bottom of next 3 ch, dc3tog over next 3 ch, dc in next 4 ch. Dc 7 in ch3 space. Dc in next 6 dc, 3 dc in next dc, dc in next 6 dc. Dc 7 in ch3 space and sl st in top of ch3.

Ch 3 and dc in next 2 dc, dc3tog, dc in next 4 dc, 2dc in each of next 5 dc. Dc in next 8 dc, 5 dc in next dc, dc in next 8 dc, 2 dc in each of next 5 dc. Dc in next dc, sl st in top of ch3 and finish off.
